About md9

md9 is an independent technical office in Türkiye. It examines digital records with forensic methods, prepares expert opinions and scientific opinions (bilimsel mütalaa) for parties to a case and their lawyers, and builds software and mobile apps. It is not a law firm, and it is not part of any court, police unit or public body.

What md9 does

md9 examines digital records and builds software. On one side of the work is the technical examination of a call detail record (HTS) dump, a server log or a phone image. On the other side is the form that examination takes in a case file: an expert opinion, a scientific opinion or a technical report. Alongside that we write software and mobile apps.

Research ties it together. When an examination sends us to a statute, an RFC or a vendor's documentation, we publish what we found, with the source, in the knowledge centre (in Turkish). Checks we need often become browser tools that work without uploading your file anywhere.

Independent means something specific here: we are not attached to a police unit, a laboratory, a law firm or a software vendor. The party or lawyer who asks for a technical opinion gives us the work; the data under examination decides the findings. Our fee does not depend on what the report says. The details are in our working principles (in Turkish).

Why examinations and software together?

Almost every record we examine was produced by software. A log line or a database field is the result of someone's design decision, and a person who makes the same decisions in their own projects notices what a record leaves out as well as what it says. Whether a created_at value came from the server clock or the user's phone clock, for example, cannot be read from the record itself; the app's code or API definition tells you. This is not a small point: a phone's clock can be changed by hand.

One real example is UDF Mobil (md9), our iPhone app that opens, edits and converts the .udf documents used by UYAP. We could not find a published specification of the format, so we worked out its structure: a UDF file is a ZIP archive whose content.xml holds the document's plain text in one block, with formatting stored separately as character ranges. Documents are processed only on the device. The app does not read the e-signature inside a signed UDF, and its signature feature adds a visual signature that does not replace a secure electronic signature.

What md9 is not

md9 is not a law firm, and we do not work under the title of court expert (bilirkişi). A court or prosecutor appoints a court expert; a party cannot choose one. What we prepare for a party is, in the words of the law, an expert opinion or a scientific opinion, and it does not bind the court. The one thing we can promise is to show what each finding rests on.

We do not take requests to access someone else's phone, account or system, or to crack passwords. We cannot help with UYAP account, file access or e-notification problems; we have no connection to that system.

Contact

All requests go to the same address: destek@md9.net. You can write in Turkish or English. In the first message, describe the technical question and the type of material. Do not attach original evidence or personal data; transfer is planned after a first assessment. Legal details about md9 are on the imprint page (in Turkish).

Frequently asked questions

Is md9 a law firm?

No. md9 does technical examinations. It does not give legal advice, draft petitions or follow cases; under Article 35 of the Turkish Attorneyship Law that is the work of lawyers registered with a bar. Our reports answer the technical question and contain no legal characterisation such as "a crime was committed".

Is md9 connected to UYAP or the Ministry of Justice?

No. md9 and its app UDF Mobil are not developed by, affiliated with or endorsed by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye or UYAP. UDF Mobil does not connect to UYAP; it only opens, edits and converts files in UYAP's .udf format on the device.

Where does md9 work?

Across Türkiye. Most examinations are done remotely once the material has been transferred securely; if a system has to be examined on site, that is planned separately. First contact is always by email to destek@md9.net, in Turkish or English.
